The Use of Mobile in Gambling

Posted on 25 March 201924 May 2021 by admin

Mobile phones are slowly taking over the gaming industry and the gambling industry is involved as well. Is this a good or a bad thing? Read on!

Mobile Market is Rapidly Increasing

There is no doubt that with technological advance more users are going to shift from desktop computers and laptops to mobiles. This is mainly due to the mobility and the all-in-one features of smartphones nowadays. More people watch events like football games and the Grand National on their mobiles instead of streaming them on their laptops.

Naturally, this shift is followed by the software companies who also shift their focus more and more every day and increase the number of mobile-oriented websites and apps.

The gambling industry did not get left behind and online casinos adopted this trend. It is rather interesting that they saw an increase in users and income when they introduced apps simply due to the convenience of playing on the go.

The Attention Span is Shorter

However, moving to mobile devices has its downsides as well. Mobile users do not usually play one game for a long time. If you use your smartphone for gaming – how many times have you installed a game and then immediately deleted it because you do not like the first impression? Well, this is how people nowadays generally operate – the attention span and patience levels are much lower than before.

Assuming this, mobile apps and websites for gambling had to be developed in such a way to instantly capture the attention of the players, usually by offering mobile-exclusive offers and adding extra features for the players using mobile devices.

The App vs The Mobile Website

Many online casinos and betting platforms did not actually developed an app but opted to optimize the website for the mobile apps. If you wonder which one is better – there is no definite answer.

Mobile apps are convenient because they have push notification and can have some features and games which are exclusively made for people who download apps. On the other hand, there is this iOS/Android division and few casinos actually cover both platforms. This means that if they have an app available for iOS and you have an Android – you are out of luck.

On the other hand, websites are optimized for all phones, but they can feel a bit cluttered due to the fact that all the buttons and options are fit in there on the small screen. Nevertheless, this option is improving but they are still slightly inferior in comparison to the app when the entire experience is taken into account.

The Mobile Exclusive Offers

Mobile offers are becoming a common thing and they usually give something a little extra to the users who play via mobile. This is mainly because online casinos and betting sites saw that people are eager to spend more when playing via a mobile device. This is, once again, simply due to the convenience of playing while not being at home, by the computer.

Usually, they would offer a welcome bonus and people can register on them by using special codes on the mobile.

General Problems with Mobile Phones and Gambling Platforms

One of the main problems is that the screens are too small and many people fail to adapt to them, especially if they are accustomed to playing casino games on-site or on the big screen. This may seem frustrating at first, but the truth is – it only takes a couple of sessions in any game in order to get used to small buttons.

Conclusion

Some of the players may not like this transition, but it is inevitable. However, the desktop platforms will certainly not go away and if you fail to accept the status quo, you can always enjoy it on the big screen.
